Drink Locally - Share Socially

I've got a problem. A vice. A nagging voice in my head that constantly sits in the background, often times staying mute but occasionally clawing its way into my conscious. Not an addiction, per se, but close. You see, I'm a craft beer drinker. One that finds himself on the hunt for the next great craft beer. The next DIPA that will tingle my taste buds and make me literally pull the glass from my lips, look at it, and make sure I just didn't eat a pine cone wrapped in a grapefruit skin. Or the smooth, roasty oak barrel aged Imperial Stout that is the perfect nightcap on a cold winter's day.
It's the stuff that makes me look at the beer menu first whenever I visit a new restaurant or bar. Or head directly to the beer aisle at the grocery store, just hoping, just once, that something other then your typical Budweiser, Coors or Miller Lite adorns the shelves (BTW, thank you Sierra Nevada and Boston Beer Co. for never letting me down).
I've got the drinking part down. Its the finding part that always throws me for a loop. So much, in fact, that Hopshunter was born.
Take one part beer, one part location and mix in your social network and a beautiful thing happens. Beers you've never tried before start taking over your honey-do list. You discover new beer forward bars and restaurants that you would love to permanently stay and sit. Your network of friends stumble across elusive beers you've been pining for and alert you. Your vision clouds with tears of joy ...
OK. Thats a bit over the top. But the message at the heart of it rings true for Hopshunter's mission. A social way for craft beer drinkers to discover, find and enjoy their favorite beverage.
Our initial closed alpha period is just getting things set up. As with beer, expect many changes over the next few releases as we ramp up to a public beta. More to come!
Cheers,
Sam
