What is Hopshunter?
Hopshunter is an application that provides an easy way to socially explore, enjoy and experience craft beer. Hopshunter lets you “check-in” the beers that you’re drinking and where, and also allows you to catalog, rate and find new beers locally to try.
What are the main features of Hopshunter?
The main features of of Hopshunter are:

All of these essential elements make up the Hopshunter experience. As you check-in and list new beers, and share them socially, you provide the Hopshunter community the basic foundation to discover them. We then layer location over that, which allows you and everyone else to easily discover the craft beers you want, and where to drink them.

How do I create a Hopshunter account?
You can create a Hopshunter account by clicking on the Sign Up link located on the top right of the site header.
Who and where can I provide feedback about Hopshunter?
We love feedback. Especially constructive feedback! But we understand we’re nowhere close to perfect, and there is always room for improvement. You can send your feedback to support@hopshunter.com, and an actual breathing human will respond back. We tried to add Watson to the team - IBM was having none of it!
Does Hopshunter provide an iPhone, Android, Palm or Blackberry app?
Simply put, we’re working on it. Our first mobile application available for download will be for iPhone, which is coming soon. Android, Palm and Blackberry applications are on the road map, but no definitive launch date has been set. In the meantime, you can always visit Hopshunter on any Internet enabled device.
Basic Features
What is a beer check-in?
A beer check-in is the way you tell Hopshunter and the community what you’re drinking. You can perform a check-in on any beer page. Just (you guessed it) click on the Check In button and you’re on your way.
You’ll always have the option to include a venue with your beer check-in, as well as share it socially with your networks. Doing so makes you an amazing craft beer drinker and wins our undying gratitude. It also helps our community by getting the word out on all the venues out there that serve great beer, and lets your friends know you’ve got good taste!
What is a beer beacon?
A beer beacon is your virtual neighborhood craft beer concierge. It helps you by automatically searching through all the activity in our community to find the beers you want to drink near you.
You can set up a beacon for any beer simply by going to a beer page and clicking the Add Beacon button. Once a beacon is added, if that beer is checked-in or listed at a venue near your location, you’ll be alerted. You can control the search area for the beacon by visiting your profile page and changing the beacon radius, as well as opt of receiving alerts.
You can manage your beacons by visiting your beacon page, which will show all the beer beacons you’ve created and if any have been found. You can always add or delete beacons as needed.
What is listing a beer?
Listing a beer is akin to checking-in a beer, only you (gasp!) aren’t drinking it. Essentially, you’re associating a beer to a particular venue. Think of it as you telling everyone the “tap list” for a bar, restaurant or store.
You can list a beer by going to a beer page and clicking the List button. Listing a beer can help remind you where a particular beer is available. It also helps the Hopshunter community locate the beer near them.
What is a journal?
A journal is an easy for you to rate and jot down your opinion on a beer you’ve enjoyed. To journal a beer, go to any beer page and click on the Add to Journal button. From there, you can provide your rating and enter in your review.
You can also edit or delete your journal by visiting the beer’s journal page. Simply click the Edit button to modify your review or rating, or the Delete button to delete the journal entry.
How do I rate a beer?
To rate a beer you must create a journal. To rate a beer go to any beer page and click on the Add to Journal button and select your star rating. While you’re there, you might as well let your inner Shakespeare out and share some prose!
I couldn’t find the beer I’m drinking - how do I add a beer ?
To add a beer to Hopshunter, you first have to identify and find the Brewery. Perform a brewery search, select the brewer, and then click the Add Beer button. Fill in as much information about the beer as possible and then click the Create Beer button. Your beer will be immediately available after submission and placed in our queue for final verification.

Perform a brewery search, and then click the Add Brewery link. Fill in as much information about the brewery as possible and then click the Create Brewery button. Your brewery will be immediately available after submission and placed in our queue for final verification.
Profile and Social Features
How do I manage my Hopshunter profile?
You can manage your Hopshunter profile by clicking on the Settings link located on the top right of the site header. From the Settings page, you can manage all your profile options for your account.
Why do you ask for my location?
Hopshunter uses your location to provide the beacon service. By providing your location, you all Hopshunter to automatically search for beers near your location and update you when they are found.
How do I manage my social networks?
You can manage your social networks by clicking on the Settings link located on the top right of the site header, and then clicking on the Manage Authorizations link.
On the manage authorizations page, you can select from the networks Hopshunter currently supports: Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare. Authorizing a network allows you to sign-in to Hopshunter with the same credentials you use to sign in on that respective network. It also enables you to socially share all the activity you complete on Hopshunter.
To deauthorize a network, simply click the remove link. You can always edit this setting.
What is follow and unfollow, and how do I follow or unfollow someone?
Following someone on Hopshunter is similar to other social networks. When you follow someone, you’re subscribing to their updates on Hopshunter. You’ll see their beer check-ins, journal postings, listings and beacons.
To follow someone, simply go to their profile page and click the Follow button. Unfollowing someone simply means you no longer wish to see their Hophsunter activity stream. Visit their profile page and click the Unfollow button.
How do I change my password?
You can change your password by clicking on the Settings link located on the top right of the site header, and then entering in a new password in the Change Password section.
